Debossed, & Embossed, & Printed – Oh My!

There is often a lot of confusion regarding the various styles of custom silicone wristbands. Many people confuse embossed bracelets with debossed bracelets (even some silicone bracelet suppliers!) and are uncomfortable with printed wristbands. Throw in the option of laser-engraved wristbands and they throw up their arms in surrender.

Debossed Wristbands

Debossed wristbands are the most common and are the same style as Lance Armstrong’s trendsetting LIVESTRONG bracelets. Debossed refers to the fact that the design is actually recessed down into the wristband itself. To accomplish this, a custom bracelet mold is manufactured that incorporates whatever customized design that is desired. Because they require a mold to be manufactured, custom debossed bracelets are more expensive and take longer to produce than printed bracelets or laser-engraved bracelets.

Embossed Wristbands

Embossed wristbands are not nearly as common, yet they are an excellent choice if you are looking for a custom silicone bracelet that is more stylish and unique. An embossed bracelet also incorporates any custom design and requires a mold to be manufactured. However, with embossed bracelets, the fully customized design is raised up off the wristband as opposed to recessed down into the wristband. Pricing and turnaround times for embossed bracelets are very similar to that of debossed bracelets.

Printed Wristbands

Printed wristbands are by far the most economical choice. Printed bracelets start with a blank wristband and are then silk-screen printed. The “technology” for screen-printing wristbands has come a long way. The dyes used today actually penetrate the silicone rubber of the wristband. Many people are under the impression that the print which is used on printed bracelets is cheaply painted on and will crack or flake off. With a reputable custom silicone bracelet manufacturer, this simply is not the case. You can expect the printing to last the lifetime of the silicone wristband itself. Printed bracelets do not require a mold to be manufactured. Instead, a template is produced that is used to apply the custom design onto the bracelets. Because a template is used rather than a mold, printed wristbands are less expensive with quicker turnaround times than debossed and embossed wristbands.

Laser-Engraved Wristbands

Laser-Engraved wristbands are becoming more and more popular. Quite frankly, they are very inexpensive to produce, yet many silicone wristband suppliers still charge exorbitant prices. Laser-engraved bracelets duplicate Lance Armstrong’s popular LIVESTRONG debossed style. For smaller orders of 5,000 custom silicone bracelets or less, laser-engraved wristbands are your best choice if you prefer this popular debossed bracelet style. Similar to printed bracelets, laser-engraved bracelets start with a blank wristband. A simple setup program allows a laser-engraving machine to engrave the custom silicone bracelets to the exact specifications of whatever fully customized design that is desired. Laser-engraved bracelets do not require a mold to be manufactured; therefore, they are less expensive and enjoy quicker turnaround times than debossed and embossed bracelets.

The Best Choice

So, what is the best choice when it comes to selecting between debossed, embossed, printed, and laser-engraved wristbands? The answer is that it is always a matter of personal preference. One style that is becoming more popular is the laser-engraved wristband that is then color-filled. This replicates the most popular LIVESTRONG debossed look while incorporating an appealing contrast of colors. The cost is a little more since the color-fill is actually an oil-based paint that must be applied by hand, but, by choosing laser-engraved bracelets over the more expensive molded debossed style, you end up getting the debossed look and color-fill together for about the same price as just a plain debossed bracelet. Regardless of your personal preference, it is imperative to select a custom silicone wristband manufacturer that does not hit you with hidden fees for setup, mold, and shipping expenses. Whomever you select, look for a pricing structure that offers one low price that includes everything – setup, design, mold, and, most importantly, shipping fees. This will prevent any unwanted surprises.

Bracelet popularity dates back to the Roman times and continues today.

Roman bracelets shared many of the design patterns of necklaces and earrings from that era. The ever popular ball earrings from that era were nicely matched with a ball style bracelet. Engraved bangles and snake bracelets were very popular during Roman times.

Bracelets made of twisted coil with lion head ends were common place, as were the two part bracelets ending with a pair of lion heads. The Heracles knot bracelet is recognized as a Roman era piece. The Romans were very creative in the designing of their jewelry. However they still borrowed from Greek motifs.

Palmettos, fleeing dogs and acanthus leaves, all of Greek origin, were often seen in the designing of Roman jewelry.

Stones and glass were often used in Roman bracelets. . Gem stones were commonly found set in eyes. Open bands were cut to represent a row of ivy and entwined with pearls. Many of the leaf and berry bracelets were heavily adorned with decorative glass. The wealthier women could be seen wearing bracelets layered in bezel set emeralds.

During the Gerogiian times bracelets remained popular. Paris jewelers were known for their gold bracelets set with pearl edging. After the 1820s coral became the in fashion statement, so bracelets and other jewelry were heavily set with coral.

During the Gerogiian time it was very fashionable to wear many bracelets at once, including wide ribbon gold mesh bracelets, and silk ribbon bracelets. Gem and Diamond bracelets were designed in geometric patterns. Gold was heavily used during this era.

The Victorian era brought changes to the fashions of women, including jewelry styles. Earrings grew long and dangled, bracelets became rigid and were normally worn in pairs. The buckle bracelet became very fashionable.

The jewelry of the Victorian era expressed sentiment, and bracelets were no exception. Bracelets would contain lockets or charms with pictures or hair of a loved one, and engravings were common

Early Victorian jewelry enjoyed some mystic with hidden meanings being popular. The acrostic bracelets where the first letter of each gemstone spelled a word of friendship were very popular. For example a bracelet set with Lapis, Opal, Vermeil [hessonite garnet] and Emerald would spell Love.

The Art Nouveau period once again saw changes to fashion and jewelry. Chameleons and serpents entwined themselves around bracelets. The mystical Egyptian scarab was found on bracelets and rings. Other popular creatures included dragonflies, butterflies, bees, peacocks, swans, and even bats. This was a very figural period attached to nature.
If jewelry did not depict creatures it depicted flower blossoms or flower buds.

From 1910 to 1939 womens fashions saw sleeveless or short sleeve dresses appear. The result was flexible bracelets and bangles worn on the upper arm. These arm bracelets were often adorned with gemstones or diamonds.
From 1940 to 1949 US designers were greatly influenced by the designs from the French house of Van Cleef & Arpels. Bracelets with ribbon of hexagon lines centered on fine gemstones fastened with heavy clasps became very vogue.

From 1950 to 1960 daytime saw simpler lines for not only gold bracelets but necklaces as well. Gold mesh or twisted wire bracelets were very popular.

From 1960 to 1970 bracelets became more flexible and were often set with gems. Bangles on the other hand became more rigid and were often seen set with random diamond placements.

From 1970 to 1979 bracelets were flexible and often set with tiny baguettes. Delicate and dainty bracelets were vogue.

From the 1980s to now bracelet fashions have been mixed and varied. Bracelet styles have become more of an individual fashion statement than a trend. Gold has always remained popular as have gems, however sterling silver has become very popular and recognized for its versatility and wearability at affordable pricing. In the last few years weve also seen an increase in demand for titanium bracelets.
Today a womens fashion statement is about her! What she likes, what she feels good in. So your bracelet wardrobe can be what ever you want. Wear a dainty gem set gold bracelet or an armful of clunky bracelets, which is very vogue this season.

Your fashion statement is about who you are, so feel free to be you!

You can have fun and make money at the same time by serving the “birthday party activity” niche. Make-and-take gemstone beaded bracelets are a very popular party activity.

A birthday bracelet beading party for girls age 5 and up is guaranteed to be a big hit. Most girls are thrilled with the opportunity to make jewelry, and parents appreciate that you’re providing both the party favors (the bracelets the girls make to take home) and the party activity (making the bracelets).

I discovered this profitable home beading party niche by accident a few years ago when I was asked if I could do a jewelry make-and-take craft at a 9-year-old girl’s birthday party. The girl’s mom and I decided on gemstone bead bracelets because necklaces would be too expensive, and not everyone has pierced ears for earrings.

So I came to the birthday party with my bead boxes, bead boards for everyone, a tape measure, accuflex beading wire, little sterling silver toggle clasps, velvet pouches for everyone, and a couple of example bracelets.

I couldn’t believe what a huge hit it was! The girls absolutely devoured the project and were thrilled to have real pearls and gemstones on their bracelets.

Now I get calls regularly asking me to come do a bracelet birthday bead party for another girl, and every time I do one, more parties get scheduled from it because the girls enjoy it so much.

Bracelet birthday parties are very easy to do, and they can also earn you a nice profit. I charge $15 per girl for parties of 9 or fewer girls, and $14 per girl for parties of 10 or more. I include a small velvet pouch for each girl to store her bracelet in.

I bring bead boxes that are organized by bead color – and as you might guess, pink and purple are DEFINITELY the most popular beads every time! Fortunately, rose quartz is very inexpensive! ) Blue beads are the next most popular color. My birthday party beads all cost me $5 or less per 16″ strand, and my average profit is around $10 to $12 per girl.

It usually takes me about an hour to get things ready to go to the birthday beading party, drive there, and set up; about another hour to do the bracelet activity with the girls; and another hour to put everything away, chat, eat a piece of birthday cake, give out bracelet birthday party flyers and business cards, and then drive home. So for 3 hours total, I usually net anywhere from $70 to $200 and have a lot of fun with the girls.

Birthday party activities are a very hot market niche, I’ve discovered, and I recommend trying it out if it sounds at all interesting to you. For successful birthday bracelet beading parties, the keys are to:

- enjoy kids,
- have a sense of fun,
- bring a lot of pink and purple beads (along with other colors), and
- wear comfortable clothes because you’ll be sitting on the floor.

While I’m helping the girls make their bracelets at the party, they always want to know how I got into making jewelry. So I tell them about how doing something I love turned me into an entrepreneur, that I build my own websites, and that I invent my own job for myself every day by following opportunities that come up and thinking creatively about things. I can tell they’re inspired by that, and I’m glad to plant seeds for future entrepreneurs!

To reach the bracelet beading party niche, I recommend making a nice flyer with a few enticing bracelet photos, a photo of a selection of beads, a brief party description, and your contact info.

Include a flyer for each birthday party guest to take home (most of the girls who are guests at one of my birthday beading parties want to have their own parties). Also inquire at your local elementary schools (public and private schools) about including one of your flyers in students’ weekly take-home folders. Many schools are happy to do this if you provide the flyer copies.

Other likely places to distribute birthday bracelet beading party flyers (with permission) include ballet / dance / gymnastics studios where girls take lessons; soccer / softball games; local bead stores; craft stores; and pottery painting stores.

Sterling Silver jewelries have been a staple in the lives of many people since humans exposed the flexibility of silver and its several uses. Silver has been used for efficient and artistic purposes.

Silver is produced in various different areas, though the maximum concentrations of silver yield come from Mexico and Peru.

Sterling is a fusion of fine silver and other metal alloys. The purity of sterling silver is measured to be 92. %. 7 % of copper is mixed to make the jewelry for strong and long lasting. Sterling silver is more prone to smudge with time due to the presence of copper the presence of copper; though this comparatively not serious side effect can be lessened through suitable care. By cleaning your sterling silver bracelets at regular intervals you’ll never even observe anything other than a stunning polish and gleam.

The affordability and adaptability of the sterling silver jewelries is one of the main reasons for its popularity. Sterlingsilver can be crafted into a lot of different jewelry items including charms, rings and chains and bracelets. Silver jewelry is frequently mistaken for other new precious metals as well as white gold and platinum.

The sterling silver bracelets have been very popular among women. These bracelets are available in different shapes, sizes and styles. All of the different sterling silver bracelets make incredible and reasonably priced gifts for holidays, birthdays, or anniversaries or any other special occasion.

Below are the top five sterling silver bracelets:

Sterling silver Byzantine bracelet:

The rich Byzantine look is textured by the Polished silver links, which are woven together. This sterling silver bracelet is worn securely on the wrist and you can also pair it up with a matching necklace.

Sterling silver triple heart bracelet:

A sterling silver bracelet with three Italian-made sterling silver hearts that are estranged by lengths of sterling round-link chain. The hearts are about juicy looking and, when united with the chain, present the piece a subtle exterior. The bracelet closes up with a lobster-claw clasp.

Shoe Fetish Charm Bracelet:

Every shoe-lover must possess this bracelet. The bracelet is about seven inches in length and five shoe charms hang from the oval links of bracelet.

Charm bracelet with glittery purses

From the circular links glittery charm purses dangle which are studded with cubic zirconium. Sterling silver and rhodium plated.

Silver Nugget Grains with “Glowing Gourd” Charm

Two filaments of stocky silver grains make an elegant wrap for the wrist. The little nuggets are improved with an imprinted gourd-like charm that hangs near the clutch. Thai artisan Chalermkwan Veerasilp designed this sterling silver bracelet.

Apart from these five bracelets there are other sterling silver bracelets like Sterling Silver Bangle with Marcasites, Sterling Silver Script Name Bracelet, Sterling Silver Heart Clasp Bracelet, Sterling Silver Family Name Bracelet

All these are priced around 50 $.

Maintaining the silver bracelets:

After you purchase any sterling silver bracelet you must see to it there quality and shine is maintain. In order to do so, you must regularly clean sterling silver with a phosphate free detergent. A low coarse cleaner, such as 3M Tarni-Shield Silver Polish, is a good choice for removing light tarnish. Some people use toothpaste to clean their sterling silver, but most silver experts warn against it because they feel toothpaste is too rough and might lead to dullness of the bracelet.

Once you possess any of the top sterling silver bracelets you will realize that they are worth the money spent!

Choose the one that suits your style the most! Pick out the best silver sterling bracelet! Visit http://sterlingsilverjewelry.zupatips.com/ for more information.

These small but stylish pieces of jewelry are an eye-catching accessory that adds a little extra sparkle to any outfit you wear.

With styles from simple and graceful to fun and funky, an ankle bracelet will make a statement to the world that you are not afraid to show your personality and to be yourself. And what better way to show your true personality then on your own wedding day. Add a touch of elegance or fun to your wedding attire and let yourself sparkle with a glamorous ankle bracelet.

A Gift for the Bride
With the popularity of ankle bracelets on the rise, brides are not about to be left out of the growing trend. In fact, more and more brides are seen wearing ankle bracelets to complement their bridal jewelry or their dress while also accentuating their feet. Why should fingers and wrists have all the fun? Ankles are just as stylish and are great for adorning jewelry that will add an extra shimmer to your overall look. “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.” We all know this famous wedding tradition that is believed to give the bride good luck in her upcoming marriage. Keep this tradition of “something new” or “something blue” alive on your wedding day with a personalized ankle bracelet. You may also consider selecting a special piece that can be placed in your keepsake box and passed down to your daughter or daughter-in-law for their future wedding day as well. An ankle bracelet will also make a great gift for the bride-to-be. Increasingly more grooms are giving their brides personalized ankle bracelets as a wedding gift on their special day. This unique gift is a sure way to express a shared love. What’s great about an ankle bracelet is that it is not only something for the bride to wear on her wedding day, but it is a piece of jewelry she can make apart of her daily ensemble – it is suitable for any occasion, from casual to formal. To add an extra touch of intimacy, consider personalizing an ankle bracelet with both his and her birthstones to represent the new union that is to be formed.

A Wedding on the Beach
If you’ve made the decision to begin your lives together as husband and wife on a romantic setting such as a beach, your wedding day attire will be an important detail. Wearing shoes on the sand is next to impossible, not to mention completely uncomfortable. What could be more perfect than the comfort of going barefoot and still having your feet sparkle with brilliance? A bridal ankle bracelet, decorated with diamonds or white pearls, is the perfect compliment to your wedding day attire. It will help complete your look as it draws attention to your feet without overly emphasizing them and can help create a nice balance when matched with a complementary bracelet, necklace, or ring. Be sure to put your best foot forward and leave a lasting impression on your special day.

On your wedding day, you are the truly the belle of the ball and deserve to feel beautiful from head to toe. Accentuate your look with a gorgeous ankle bracelet that will make you sparkle and give your feet a whole new look. Who says your cute, manicured feet can’t attract a little attention and do some flirting of their own?

The historical custom of wearing charm bracelets dates back millenia, and though the materials and designs on them have changed, the concept itself has never gone out of style. This form of jewelry initially had a religous function, and dates back to the prehistoric era. Based on data from Elizabeth Florence, president of the Jewelry Information Center, charm bracelets were first worn by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians and Hittites from 500 to 400 B.C. Those charms were created from lapis lazuli, rock crystal and other locally-available gems and were inscribed with symbolic designs, like figures of gods, humans and animals. They were closely associated with magical spiritual powers and served as protective talismans.

As time passed, charms diminished in religious significance and became fashion jewelry instead. The Victorians of the 1890′s spurred a renaissance of charms, due to their love of elaborate and intricate clothing and jewelry. Queen Victoria helped fuel the craze by wearing a charm bracelet of tiny lockets holding family portraits.

A second revival of charm bracelets occured in America in the Second World War era, as soldiers stationed abroad acquired charms as souvenirs from the European cities where they were stationed and brought these trinkets home as presents for wives and girlfriends. The fashion trend continued well into the 1950′s.

Charms have never entirely gone out of vogue, and are becoming increasingly popular today as personal keepsakes in an increasingly mass-produced jewelry market. Popular themes include horoscope signs, birthstone charms, travel souvenirs, and family keepsakes. Many women begin their charms collection when still in childhood, and the charm bracelet grows along with them, reflecting hobbies and experiences. A charm bracelet can hold a tiny replica of a sports trophy, a wedding bouquet, or even lockets holding family photos.

As well, charms are popular gifts because of their affordable cost. An intricate silver charm can be found for less than 10 dollars, though it’s possible to spend 100s of dollars on a 18k gold charm set with gems.

Italian charms, a genre in and of themselves, don’t dangle from a chain like traditional charms. Instead, each pattern is soldered onto a flat link which snaps onto an extensible bracelet. The patterns consist of letters, symbols, pictures, precious gems, or even have enamel pictures painted on them. Charms can be snapped on and off these modular bracelets to come up with new configurations to match different moods and outfits. These bracelets are traditionally manufactured of stainless steel, though the more expensive ones come in 18k gold. Each italian charm is of a standard interchangeable size and the resulting bracelet can be customized to any woman’s wrist; the smallest size holds seventeen or even less links, a medium eighteen, and a large nineteen or even even more.

There are different corporations which make Italian charms, however all brands are supposed to be interchangable on the basic bracelet. The “starter” bracelet of blank links costs around 5 dollars, and on the average charms run 15 dollars and higher. Ironically, China also manufactures a great number of these “Italian” charms, and while they are popular due to their low price, a select few consumers report occasional oddities like reversed images and off-size fit on the standard bracelet.

It happens all the time: someone close to you, a friend, a family member, a close colleague, has a baby and you have no idea what to give them. You feel guilty, you fish around for the usual clichd presents: the booties, the mobiles, the picture books. You yawn and wish there was something you could give that would show how truly happy you are for the parents of that bundle of joy, and this is where a baby name bracelet can help you end that tedious search.

Once you’ve found out what the happy parent (or parents) have planned to name their newborn babe (or babies), a personalized, handcrafted bracelet can be a thoughtful, generous gift. A bracelet adorned with the baby’s name will live on long past the child’s infancy, and can serve as a memorable keepsake for which to add to a parent’s treasure chest of birth certificates, first teeth, and priceless photos. And the best part about a gift like this is that it can vary widely in price, depending on how much you want to spend, or how close you are to the parents in question. Whether or not you want to spend a nice sum on a gold fashioned bracelet, one engraved in sterling silver, or one festooned with pearls and other gems, the market will offer up a wide array of prices that will suit the gift giver any way they see fit.

The clasp of a is best fashioned with hearts, or boots, or other such charms which can make complete the gift you wish to give with an emblem significant to a young one’s life. As a parent, what could be more precious than a gift which will live on as a commemoration of the birth of their loved child, long after that child has grown into adulthood. A further attraction given to many baby bracelets, is the inclusion of the child’s birthstone within the circumference of the bracelet, which, along with the engraved name, personalize the gift that much more. With the beautiful gemstones of emerald, sapphire, amethyst, or ruby, added to blocks of engraved mother of pearl spelling out the child’s name, you can create not only a personal and memorable gift, but a rather beautiful one at that.

You may even wish to create a beautiful differentiation through the blending of gold and silver designs, or the interlacing of different gems within the bracelet’s pattern to create a truly unique and aesthetically pleasing gift which will delight the family who receives it for years to come. You can allow yourself to be creative, or let one the various dealers of these gifts to be creative for you, and in either case, achieve something unique and special at reasonable cost and effort. Add a charm or two of a Christian cross, or the Chinese symbol for longevity, or some other icon symbolic of the newborn in question you wish to express, and you’ve already added to the complexity and meaning of what at first seemed a simple and straightforward gift. As ever, it truly is the thought that counts when it comes to gift giving, and a child bracelet is one of the easiest and most touching ways to show a family just how happy you are about their newest addition.

For you it could only be a few dollars, but the money you pay for every rubber cancer bracelet goes towards the noble cause of cancer research. What prompted ace cyclist Lance Armstrong to hit upon the idea to use rubber cancer bracelets to fund cancer research? No one knows. But the signature yellow rubber cancer bracelets worn by the seven-time Tour de Force champion and cancer survivor quickly caught on as a common fundraising tool. And young people soon turned wearing them – in all colors and with all kinds of messages stamped on them – into a trend.

The rubber wristbands have been around for decades as ‘baller bands’ – worn by basketball players because of restrictions against metal jewelry. But the trend really caught on with Armstrong’s cancer bracelets.

The Lance Armstrong Foundation says that more than 52 million ‘LiveStrong’ bracelets have been sold already! But millions of other rubber cancer bracelets have also been sold. And that is without counting the millions, maybe billions, of all other kinds of rubber wristbands that have been sold or are being sold all over the world – rubber bracelets for tsunami relief, for showing support to American troops, for just about anything, and nothing! In fact, they are now the coolest thing that anyone can sport on one’s wrists. Though called rubber bracelets, these are actually made of synthetic rubber, or silicone gel.

When you buy a LiveStrong rubber cancer bracelet, $1 from its proceeds is donated to the Lance Armstrong Cancer Foundation! That is, $52 million has been raised for cancer research already! The LiveStrong rubber cancer bracelets are made by sportswear major Nike. Cancer is 1the second largest cause of death in the United States and one out of four deaths will come from cancer

Now you have a different color rubber cancer bracelet for different types of cancers. In terms of popularity, after the yellow rubber cancer bracelets come the pink ones. The pink rubber cancer bracelets are worn as a show of support for breast cancer patients. There are still more colors of bracelets for colon cancers, prostrate cancers, and so on. But it is well nigh impossible to do a color-coding chart for the rubber cancer bracelets and the types of cancers they represent. Simply because so many of them are being brought out by different organizations across the world.

There are people who take wearing their rubber cancer bracelets seriously, and there are those who hate the sight of them. But it can’t be disputed that these rubber wristbands have brought charity into the life of the common man. They have also succeeded in bringing some of the bitter realities of existence – as well as joys – into the plane of society’s consciousness like never before.

A bracelet is an article of clothing or jewelry, which is worn around the wrist. Bracelets can be manufactured from cloth or metal, and sometimes contain rocks, wood, and/or shells. Bracelets are also used for medical and identification purposes such as allergy bracelets and hospital tags. In the late 1980s, “snap bracelets”, felt-covered metal bracelets that curved around one’s wrist when gently hit against it, were a popular fad.

Nike and Lance Armstrong popularized the recent use of colored silicone rubber as a material for producing sports bracelets through the Yellow Livestrong band. Its success has led to the use of these ‘awareness’ bracelets as low cost tools for information campaigns and charity projects. These sports bracelets are also known otherwise as ‘baller id bands’, ‘wristbands’ or ‘baller bands’.

The in-line thin diamond bracelet that features a symmetrical pattern of diamonds is called a tennis bracelet. According to Diamond Bug, in 1987 Chris Evert, the former World No. 1 woman tennis player and the winner of 18 Grand Slam singles titles, was playing in the U.S. Open. She was wearing an elegant, light in-line diamond bracelet, which accidentally broke and the match was interrupted to allow Chris to recover her precious diamonds. The ‘tennis bracelet’ incident sparked a new name for the item
and sparked a huge jewelry trend. Tennis bracelets continued to be worn by various tennis stars like Serena Williams and Gabriela Sabatini.

Although the term ‘armlet’ may be technically similar, it is taken to mean an item that sits on the upper arm. The origin of the term ‘bracelet’ is from the Latin ‘brachile’ meaning ‘of the arm’, via the Old French ‘barcel’. Taken in the plural, bracelets is often use as slang for handcuffs.

Wristbands
Wristbands are encircling strips worn on the wrist, made of any of a variety of materials depending on the purpose. The term can be used to refer to the bracelet-like band of a wristwatch, to the cuff or other part of a sleeve that covers the wrist, or to decorative or functional bands worn on the wrist for other reasons.

One common type of wristband is the loops of plastic or tyvek that are placed around the wrist for identification purposes (demonstrating the wearer’s authorization to be at a venue, for example).

Silicone wristbands
More recently, wristbands, often made of silicone, are worn to demonstrate the wearer’s support of a cause or charitable organization, similar to awareness ribbons. Such wristbands are sometimes called symbands to distinguish them from other types of wristbands.

One of the first charitable organizations to make use of silicone wristbands as a way of demonstrating support for a cause was the yellow Livestrong wristband created in 2004 by the Lance Armstrong Foundation. By early 2005, symbands became popular with many charities, such as Make Poverty History and the BBC’s Beat Bullying campaign.

There is also another type of Wristband called Web band. It is an online version of the real wristband.
